I keep this photo on my desk bulletin board. I found it in some files years ago (i.e. credit is not mine).
This is probably an easy one, but a fun one. Quiz: What is this structure?

And tell me, what are you up to this weekend? Anything fun? Good weather? The snow is practically all melted in Burlington (hallelujah), at least until we get a good April storm. 😉
Drive in movie theater screen! I win I win! What do I win?
First place, Issac! That entitles you to a great amount of preservation pride. 🙂
too easy! But made me laugh –
And – hurrah! – I found the answer to the stone structure that used to be a church in Florence, VT.
Oh do share about florence!!
go to your original post – people left comments who knew the building, lived near by.
Used to love those things. My local drive-in was turned into a FEMA trailer lot.
Really? Yikes. That’s an unusual end for a drive-in. So sad.
It was a sad end. I wish that they would revive it.
Oooo, a drive-in screen!
yes!
Yes, we knew instantly it was a drive-in movie screen. It was great in the late 60s to be able to go with our infant son, let him sleep in the back seat and see a film. No babysitter needed! There’s one still in operation in Wellfleet, Massachusetts.
That was indeed a great selling point of drive-ins. Come as you are, bring the kids. I’ve done lots of drive-in research. Have you heard of drive-ins that offered baby bottle warmers and grocery shopping? There are 4 operating in Vermont. Or there were 4. I’m not sure how many will be around this year with the digital conversion.
There is one in N. Hoosick, NY, right across the state line from N. Bennington, VT, Rte 67, Well loved by the community
A drive-in movie screen?
yes!
I see that folks before me guessed rightly at the DI movie screen and I know them well as I was photographing the abandoned Drive Ins of Massachusetts longer ago than some of you may have been alive-!
As far as weekend plans – I can’t tell you how excited I am that the SUN is finally out here in Pennsylvania! We’re going to do a quick Retro Roadmap road trip this afternoon to scope out a place we’ll (crossed fingers) be doing one of our videos on. Tomorrow I will be conducting a tour of our historic downtown theatre (The Colonial, Phoenixville PA) and then watching “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” on the giant screen of said theatre.
Hope you’ve got as much fun planned for your weekend as I do! Life is short – make every moment count!
xo Mod Betty
Oh sunshine! We should get some tomorrow. I’m so happy to have won the battle against winter yet again. Good luck with your RetroRoad video, Mod Betty. I have a long to-do list this weekend, but it’s also filled with fun times with friends and some running. cheers!
