Looks like a sign for a drive-in theater.
Excellent guess! You are all correct. It is the marquee for the former White River Junction drive-in, which existed prior to the 1960s interstate construction. Now there are chain retail and restaurants. The marquee currently serves as a town announcement board (think big letters).
