    That looks disturbingly like the metal grate that was attached to a local building in my area in the 1950s. Horrible. When the build went into a renovation here a few years ago all that came down and it returned to its original look. It looks much better, and its one of two sister buildings to the 1917 vintage building that I work in everyday.

    Odd thing is that I’ve been working on a long screed against messing with the features of historic buildings on one of my blogs. This provides a really good example of why not to do that. I may reference this entry here.
