Glazed clay tile silo, Route 30, VT. These silos were popular ca. 1910-1930. Due to the cost of clay tile, they weren’t popular in Vermont. #presinpink

Interesting! I read that tile was common out in the midwest because the clay out there. Shipping that clay/tile to Vermont was cost prohibitive. Hence, not so many. And, as I mentioned to Deb above, they rusted easily.
Interesting treatment! I have never seen one like that.
They are very rare, often because the iron inside the silo rusted and caused the tile to pop. But, I love them!
I love these! See lots of them in OH.

They must be a NE phenomena. I have never seen them in WI or GA.
Maybe, although I’ve seen them in NC. Depends on where the good clay is located, I think.
