I read somewhere that siding has the very nasty effect of making a wood-framed structure rot since it doesn’t allow for the normal flow of air that would occur normally in these old structures. They would “breathe” before the siding was put on them. Not sure how true that is, but its a scary proposition when you consider how many old buildings have aluminum siding nowadays….
Very true! That is one of the main reasons to not put fake siding on your house, aluminum or plastic.
