While there’s talk that they will recreate the existing bridge, there was also some talk of raising the height of the bridge — and that means that the ramps onto it will have to extend further in to town on either side. If that’s the design option that’s chosen then it’s not just the loss of the historic old drawbridge, but suddenly becomes a matter of community impact, road patterns, etc.
The 1723 Warner house has survived all this time and the threat of being torn down to make way for a gas station — what impact will its proximity to the bridge have on the National Historic Landmark?
Excellent questions — sounds like there are a lot of Section 4(f) issues as well.
